Hope For Crohn's®:  20XX Fun Charity Event Information

EVENT: Hope For Crohn's® Blue Wave Triathlon/Duathlon

​TRIATHLON COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
SWIM: Will take place at XXXX Beach. Swim course is 1/4 mile. Swim is a loop. Water temperature is in the 60's, wetsuits allowed but not necessary.
City of XX XX Fire Dept will provide water support.

BIKE: The bike course is on a paved path on XXXX RdXXXX through to XXXXXXXX, turnaround, then return to XXXX Beach. A beautiful and much-loved bike route.  The course is approximately 8.1 miles. No tandem or pull carts allowed. Helmets required.  XXX XXX will provide traffic control to keep cyclist safe.

PLEASE NOTE: During the bike segment, there is no passing allowed on the narrow highway road when oncoming traffic or saftey & cautionary devices are present. Violations will result in time penalties and possible disqualification. All riders must look carefully and use good judgment when attempting to pass on the bike course. Please caution the rider ahead by yelling “LEFT” or “ON YOUR LEFT” prior to attempting to pass on the left side (NEVER ATTEMPT TO PASS ON THE RIGHT). All cyclists are to ride single file (no side-by-side riding allowed) and stay at least 3 bike lengths behind the rider in front.

RUN: Run course is 3.1 miles. It is on a paved walkway and along the XXXXXXBeach starting from XXX XXX to Beach, then return. Hope For Crohn's volunteers and Park Rangers will provide traffic control to keep runners safe. There will be an aid station at the Finish line with water, energy drink, and energy bar. Transition will be in the XXX XXX main parking lot. There will be an aid station in the transition with water, electrolyte drink and energy bar. Run finishes near main stage. 

DUATHLON COURSE DESCRIPTION: 
Leg 1: Run (see above) 3.1 miles
Leg 2: Bike (see above) 8.1 miles
Leg 3: Run (see above) 3.1 miles

TRI TIME:Elite division starts at 7:15 AM.  Men start at 7:30 AM.  Teams at approx 7:50 AM, Women at approx 7:55 AM. Mandatory athlete meeting at 6:30am.

Body marking: TriTat numbering system will be used. All athletes must have their TriTats numbers on before checking into Transition. TriTats numbers are assigned to each athlete and included in their race packet.

DU TIME:Starts at 7:00 AM.

FIELD SIZE: Limited to 400 total participants including 10 teams. Registration will close to teams as soon as 10 teams have registered.

LATE ENTRY: NO REGISTRATION ON EVENT DAY. NO PACKET PICKUP ON EVENT DAY.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
THERE IS NO FUNDRAISING REQUIREMENT.

You are welcome to participate in our Athletes For Crohn's Fundraising program. Raise $590 and earn an entry into the race, a TriSuit or TriTop or Tech T, and duffel bag. This will help us reach our goal of $30,000 to fund Crohn's research and outreach and education programs in our community. Please read Participant Q & A for details.

TRI DIVISIONS:Elites, and Age Groups 18-19, 20-24, 25-29,30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over.  Athena's (150 lbs. +) - 39 years and under(open) and 40 years and older (master). Clydesdale (200 lbs. +) - 39years and under (open) and 40 years and older (master).

DU DIVISIONS:Elites, and Age Groups 18-19, 20-24, 25-29,30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over. Clydesdale (200 lbs. +) - 39years,18 & Above Co-ed (First timer/beginner);18 & Above Co-ed (Military);18 & Above Co-ed (Relay)

Teams: Female, Male, and Mixed. The top 3 teams will receive a place medal.

AWARDS: All participants will receive a finishers medal. Top 3 finishers will receive a place medal.  The overall male, female and team will receive a custom award.  The overalls are not awarded within the age groups.

PACKET PICK-UP: Packet Pick-up will be at different locations to accommodate all participants. All Blue Wave Triathlon/Duathlon participants will receive a 10% in store shopping discount on packet pick up date and any additional dates at Sports Basement. 
Hope For Crohn's is a Basementeer and will receive 10% of profit as a donation from Sports Basement. Just let cashier know you support Hope For Crohn's.

All Athletes must pick up their own Event Packet and provide ID. 

NO REGISTRATION ON EVENT DAY. NO PACKET PICKUP ON EVENT DAY.

PARKING: Parking is open to all paid participants in McNears Beach.


Transition Area:
Transition Area is located at South Shore parking lot. It opens for setup at 5:30am and will be closed at 6:15am regardless of start time. You must have your assigned TriTat wrist band ID number on and TriTat bike ID number on bike, in order to enter the Transition. All athletes must be dressed and prepared to start and leave out of the Transition to go to the start line by 6:20am for the mandatory meeting which starts at 6:30am.

It will not be reopened until 9:30am when all cyclist have completed the Bike Course. No exceptions. This will keep all participants' bikes safe. 

There will be no security in the Transition Zone after 10:45am on event day. It is forbidden to leave bags, luggage, backpacks etc. inside the Transition Zone.

Athletes should only leave their bike with competition equipment: helmet and bike shoes placed in it.

The clothes, sunglasses, hat, towel, etc. must in the special needs bags (bike/race) in the assigned area within Transition Zone.

MANDATORY BRIEFING: All athletes must attend mandatory briefing at stage at South Shore at 6:30am.

Recovery Area:Upon reaching the Finish Line, all athletes will receive a finisher medal. Then, athletes must keep walking straight up to the Recovery Area, where there will be medical attention tents, electrolyte drinks, water, ice, post race meal and rest areas.

BRIGHT COLORED SWIM CAPS ARE REQUIRED.
